Super Boobie Bowl III

Now that I have your attention... let me start off by saying that Ms Foodie won $190 on Sunday!$100 in the MTV Studio pool and $90 on a bet I placed in Vegas last April on the Colts to win the Super Bowl! Not too shabby!

But back to Super Boobie Bowl and most importantly, the food that goes along with it! RFW hosts this gala at Delilah, her lovely Queens abode and much to the disappointment of my male friends, there isn't any nudity involved in Boobie Bowl; just a lot of sports loving gals and their significant others. For this year's festivities, the super-creative Irish beauty was inspired by the Miami locale of Super Bowl XLI and chose a Cuban theme for the evening.

RFW decorated her apartment with palm trees, flamingos, and even had designated Colts & Bears balloon-filled cheering corners. The delicious food was courtesy of one of my favorite places, Havana Central. RFW ordered the "field goal" combo and the Havana Central could not have been more helpful. When Rockstar & I picked up the platters in Havana Central's midtown location, they told us what one guest should avoid because of his food allergy (they had gotten a call from one of the guests) and even loaded the goodies in the cab for us.

The field goal combo included: various empanadas (broccoli/cheese, beef, chicken & Cubano), Cuban sandwiches, chicken wings and ribs with habanero sauce. We also whipped up some rice and black beans, Chef LaLaLa made some guacamole and there were tortilla chips as far as the eye could see. Gerf & Mr Gerf brought along some taco spread and Bacon, Megkefel & Xila brought dessert including cookies, brownies and Colts & Bears cupcakes!

Rockstar whipped up some great mojitos with simple syrup, muddled limes and mint, rum and a splash of soda. The drinks went down easy (perhaps too easy) and I had to switch to cerveza to prevent a huge hangover on Monday.

Ms Foodie spent an extra hour at the gym in preparation for this caloric delight and I simply could not get enough of the ribs. The ribs are cooked with a mango ginger habanero sauce and they have a hint of spice without being overpowering and just enough sauce that it does not interfere with the texture of taste of the meat. They were tender with minimal fat and bones. This could spell trouble for my future takeout orders!

I was so impressed with Havana Central that I have chosen them to cater our Grammy night dinner on Sunday at the office because I certainly don't want a repeat of the last catered work meal. How lucky for my co-workers that I am looking out for their culinary well-being?
