A Note of Apology

For fear of losing my fanbase of ten regular readers, I wanted to write a quick note of explanation why there hasn't been any new entries.

I am working pretty long hours on MTV News' red carpet preshow to the Video Music Awards and therefore my meals have consisted of granola bars, cookies by the boatload, an occassional cup of nuts and a peach or two that I've been bringing from home. We do get a "walk away" meal (non-catered) and that's been grabbing something offered in Rockefeller Center, not exactly the gourmand capital of the world.

I'm curious what our catered meals are going to be and I will certainly post a review on that! But in the meantime, I am trying to hang onto the last ounce of willpower I have to keep me away from binging on Oreos, Milanos and mini Twix bars, but so far sugar is winning.

Lucky for me I completed the NYC Half-Marathon on Sunday so if there were ever a week to stray from healthy eating it may be now.

So I'll be back in full force soon, but in the meantime check out the 2006 VMA Red Carpet on the Rock on Thursday, Aug 31 @ 6:30pm est!

Had to put in a plug somewhere!

Breakfast of Champions

This week was going to be really ridiculously busy and I knew I was not going to be eating well, so I decided to treat myself to a special breakfast.

After the NYC Half-Marathon, Chef Extraordinnaire MJ treated Marathon Man, Rockstar & I to some delicious pasta salad and fruit salad. Of course the bloody Mary's and mimosas went faster than the fruit so I decided not to let it go to waste and made some French Toast to start the week off right.

I whisked 1/2 cup of Egg Beaters, Vanilla Extract & cinammon and dipped 2 slices of wheat toast in the egg mixture. After a few minutes on each side in the pan, I topped the toast with the bananas, blueberries and peaches. Would have been even better with some butter and a little bit of syrup but the guilt of the calories prevented me from the extra splurge.

But there is something to be said about making a 'weekend' breakfast on a weekday - certainly starts the day off right!
